i can't believe that i haven't updated this in a year! i guess i got too involved in other internet minutiae, and let it fall by the wayside. no more! facebook and twitter have renewed my interest in social networking..see the lovely twitter widget at the left of the page.

part two of mix tape post

next we have squeeze satisfied. i recall when making the original post, i could not locate a video for this song, and i was really disappointed by that, because i barely remembered how the song went. but someone finally posted it on to youtube. day saved! so, i listed to it and wow, i'm immediately transported back to my teenage ideas of love and relationships. no disrespect to glenn tilbrook.

big audio dynamite's rush. my roommate, jessica and i used to listen to the globe incessantly our junior year. i apologize for the quality of this video in advance, but the sonybmg video isn't allowed to be embedded. this version's tempo also illustrates madonna's lifting of the riff for ray of light.

xtc was in constant rotation at school. many afternoons were spent on the parade stand at the soccer field sunning ourselves, watching the boys play ball and listening to oranges and lemons. in the years between then and now, i really played little attention to the band, until richard bestowed several of their early albums to me. i clearly remember the video for the ballad of peter pumpkinhead.

one of the first cds that i owned was erasure's the innocents, so i was no stranger to them when chorus was released. revisiting this song has been a pleasant surprise. i should think about actually purchasing this song.

and i leave you with the final song of the tape been caught stealing.

it's interesting to think that back when i was toiling over my stereo to make this tape, 17 years later i would be able to revisit all of these songs and artists (and videos, natch) with a few clicks of a keyboard.

a post about makeup.

RIP shu uemura. he was a rather famous japanese makeup artist who created a high profile cosmetic line. the line's most popular products lately have been their incredible false eyelashes. endorsed by both madge AND oprah. i have the copies of the lashes made for madge for the "confessions on a dancefloor" album. mine aren't made of mink, however.
